30 Floors Up Beginner Guide
Learn the basics of movement, floor defense, and resource gathering so you can survive your first nights.
30 Floors Up drops you at the bottom of a 30-story tower filled with enemies. Your goal is to clear floors one by one, collect resources, build defenses, and survive increasingly dangerous nights. This guide walks you through your first session step by step.
Learn the basic controls
Master movement, jumping, aiming and shooting before engaging enemies. Practice on the lower floors where threats are weakest, and get comfortable switching between weapons and building tools quickly.
Gather resources early
Break crates, search rooms and loot containers on every cleared floor. Coins and materials stockpile fast in the early game and fund your first weapon upgrades and barricades.
Prioritize barricades and chokepoints
Don't try to defend an entire floor. Funnel enemies into stairs or narrow doorways, barricade alternate routes, and fight from a position where enemies can only reach you one at a time.
Upgrade one weapon instead of many
Early coins are scarce. Focus on upgrading a single reliable weapon rather than spreading resources across your whole loadout - a strong primary carries you through the first several nights.
Survive the first nights
During night waves, stay behind cover, conserve ammo, and repair barricades between waves. If a defense fails, fall back up a floor and re-establish a chokepoint rather than fighting in the open.
30 Floors Up Weapons Tier List
Every weapon ranked from S to D based on damage, fire rate, ammo efficiency, and how hard it is to unlock.
Choosing the right weapon determines how long you survive the night waves. High-tier weapons balance raw damage with ammo efficiency, while lower-tier weapons are cheap early options you should replace as soon as possible.
Minigun
Massive sustained damage that shreds night waves; high coin cost but worth saving for
Rocket Launcher
AoE damage clears clustered enemy groups and floor bosses in seconds
Shotgun
Devastating close-range burst, perfect for chokepoint defense
Assault Rifle
Reliable all-rounder with good damage, fire rate and ammo economy
SMG
Fast fire rate but burns ammo quickly; good early-to-mid transition weapon
Crossbow
High single-shot damage but slow reload punishes missed shots
Pistol
Free starter weapon; fine for floor 1-2 but falls off fast
Baseball Bat
Melee saves ammo against lone weak enemies but risky in swarms
Slingshot
Very low damage; replace with any firearm as soon as you can
30 Floors Up Floors Guide
A floor-by-floor breakdown of threats, rewards and strategy as you climb from 1 to 30.
Each floor of the tower brings stronger enemies and better loot. Clearing floors in the right order - and knowing when to rebuild defenses versus pushing upward - is the key to reaching the top. Below are the major floor zones and how to approach them.
Ground Levels
Rewards: Coins, basic weapons, starter materials
Tutorial zone. Loot everything, learn enemy patterns, and upgrade your starting pistol before pushing up. No barricades needed yet.
Lower Offices
Rewards: More coins, SMG/shotgun unlocks, revive coins
Enemies begin spawning in small groups. Set up your first chokepoint at the stairwell and keep a melee weapon as an ammo-saving backup.
Mid Tower
Rewards: High coin payouts, assault rifle/minigun upgrades, rare skins
Night waves get serious. Fully barricade one staircase per floor, place turrets if available, and retreat upward rather than losing a defended floor.
Upper Floors
Rewards: Best loot in the game, premium weapon upgrades
Elite enemies appear here. Fight only at chokepoints, keep revives in reserve, and repair defenses between every wave - losing ground here is very costly.
The Rooftop
Rewards: Final rewards and endgame bragging rights
The final challenge. Bring your best upgraded loadout, max your barricades before the fight, and focus fire on the boss while teammates handle wave adds.
30 Floors Up Enemies Guide
Every zombie type and special infected explained, with stats, attack patterns and counters.
Knowing what is climbing the stairs toward you is half the battle. This guide breaks down each enemy in 30 Floors Up, from common shamblers to fast special infected, covering their behavior, damage output and the best weapons or positioning to deal with them.
Basic Zombie (Shambler)
Walks toward the nearest player and attacks with melee swipes. Usually appears in large hordes on lower floors.
Weakness: Any weapon works; headshots with the starting pistol conserve ammo efficiently.
Counter: Group them up in a hallway and use melee or a shotgun blast to clear multiple targets at once.
Runner Zombie
Sprints directly at players as soon as it spots them, often breaking through gaps in barricades.
Weakness: Narrow chokepoints and barricades slow them down; they do not attack structures aggressively.
Counter: Never let runners reach open floor space. Set barricades at stairwell entrances and shoot them as they funnel through.
Brute Zombie
A heavy armored infected that smashes barricades and deals massive melee damage. Appears more frequently on higher floors.
Weakness: Slow turn speed and long attack recovery; ranged weapons to the head deal bonus damage.
Counter: Kite the Brute around obstacles while teammates focus fire. Repair or replace barricades immediately after it breaks through.
Crawler Zombie
Crawls low along the ground, slipping under gaps and hiding behind debris before lunging at players' legs.
Weakness: Easy to kill once spotted; vulnerable to melee swings aimed downward.
Counter: Check floor-level sightlines behind barricades. Keep a shotgun or melee weapon ready when defending tight stairwells.
Spitter Zombie
Lobs acid projectiles that leave damaging puddles on the floor, forcing players out of defensive positions.
Weakness: Long wind-up before spitting; low mobility makes it an easy ranged target.
Counter: Prioritize killing Spitters at range before they zone out your barricade line. Avoid standing in puddles while repairing.
Horde Wave Enemies
Periodic horde events spawn mixed enemy types that assault the floor from multiple stairwells at once.
Weakness: Predictable timing; preparation between waves gives you time to fortify.
Counter: Pre-build fallback barricade lines, stockpile ammo and assign each player a stairwell to cover before the wave hits.
30 Floors Up Base Building Tips
Barricade placement, trap combos, floor lockdown routes and the best value building materials.
Survival in 30 Floors Up is decided before the horde arrives. These base-building tips cover how to place barricades efficiently, which traps to pair together, how to lock down a floor with minimal materials, and which purchases give you the most defense per dollar.
Chokepoint Barricades First
Never barricade in open rooms. Identify the stairwells and doorways zombies must pass through, and layer barricades inside those chokepoints so enemies funnel into your line of fire.
Layered Defense Lines
Build two or three rows of barricades rather than one thick wall. When the front row breaks you keep firing while repairing the back line, instead of losing the whole defense at once.
Trap Combos at Entrances
Pair spike or damage traps directly behind your front barricade row so zombies cluster on the barricade and take continuous damage while you shoot them.
Fallback Route Lockdown
Always leave one player-controlled escape route. Lock down unused stairwells completely, but keep a repairable exit so the team can rotate if a defense line collapses.
Metal Over Wood on Key Lines
Wood barricades are cheap and fine for early floors, but upgrade your primary stairwell to metal barricades as income allows - they survive far more hits and reduce panic repairs.
Repair Beats Rebuild
Repairing a damaged barricade costs far less than replacing a destroyed one. Assign one teammate as dedicated repairer during waves and keep them stocked with tools.
